Japanese education focusing on hand held technology

According to New Launches.com "The Nintendo DS Classroom will be featuring around 60 applications which will cover kanji, math, civics, physics and history. These will be available to students in junior high and high school in 2010".

Japanese students will be able to take tests, do homework and get feedback from teachers on Nintendo hand held devices that will be specifically focused on education.

Initially we thought the Ipod was going to impact classrooms as a learning tool. Then we thought mobile phones would be used but small screens and the addiction to texting have seemingly reduced its chances. Many schools are now banning students from bringing their phones to class particularly in Japan.

Then out of left field the Nintendo DS comes out with an education focused device that could be the tool educators are looking for to mix technology and personalization.
